Thank you for the reference. People are already solving the 3^4 fast enough to be practical but I’m pretty sure the cubing contest folks won’t be very warm to to the idea of including virtual puzzles. If they are, then there would naturally be cheating concerns if people were allowed to use their own hardware. If they wanted to do it anyway and want to use mobile devices, it might be possible to use scanners to extract and load scrambles from QR codes projected onto a screen or something.
Hopefully the physical 2^4 puzzle could avoid all the issues of virtual puzzles. I sure would love to see people speedsolving mine.
