Congratulations, Joel.
I’m trying to delve into MC5D myself, but am perpetually distracted. Your email is inspiring.
Peace and Success,
Ed

Subject: [MC4D] 2^5 solution
Hi everyone,
Yesterday I was inspired to play with the MC5D software and today I solved the 2^5. I started with familiarizing myself with the moves (although this proceeded throughout the whole solve) and constructing two macros: one for permuting three pieces (analogous to an A-perm on a 3^3) and one for orienting two pieces (similar to an OLL headlights-case). During the solving, I realized that it’s possible to twist (3-cycle of stickers) just a single corner but at the beginning, I didn’t know that so I had to do with a two-twist-macro.
After that, I used my intuition and those two macros to solve the puzzle layer by layer. In the beginning, I had trouble with recognition and finding pieces. Surprisingly, this seemed to become easier and easier the more of the puzzle I solved! I’ve just finished after about 8 hours (I don’t believe I have an entry in the Hall of Insanity just yet). It was a great experience.
All the best,
Joel
