Hi all,

I wanted solve a **BIG** MagicTile puzzle. For this I tackled a puzzle which Michael Gottlieb hasn’t yet solved.
I have chosen MT_hyp_{4,7}_42_R10-9_e100 with 42 colors and 714 pieces. I name them faces, edgefaces, cornerfaces, edges and corners.
My solves has 172’914 moves.

I did a first try with 90’000 moves (14 days elapsed time) and was stopped with a difficult parity situation. See illustration.

Can anyone of you find a sequence to solve this parity?

I simply restarted a second try and was lucky enough to not encounter the parity again. This puzzle is not only lengthy but is also very interesting (with crossing orbits).
My elapsed time for the sucessfull try was 18 days.

By the way: during this month the 42 MT colors got very familiar to me. White, blue, green, … but also darkGold, minth, cadet, cornblue, chocolate, tan, khaki, teal, …

Happy puzzling!

Ed
