Congratulations, Matthew!

It’s really wonderful to have a first blind no-macro 2^4, and it’s especially nice to be able to see the complete video record. Yes of course there’s not a lot of action in the middle but I really enjoyed watching it straight through since I think that captured a lot of the intensity of the attempt and of your ultimate success. It also makes a great record for this important milestone. I also like that you felt the need to at least partially wear your physical blindfold!

I’ve created a page of thoughts for people interested in blind 4D solves here:
    http://superliminal.com/cube/blind.html
Note that this overlaps a bit with Nan’s wiki entry for blind solutions and his (short) list of solutions:
    http://wiki.superliminal.com/wiki/Main_Page#Blindfolded_Solving
I’ve not linked mine anywhere since they should probably be merged or something, so help and suggestions are more than welcome.
Matthew: I encourage you to at least add your new record to Nan’s table and link to your log file and video from there.

I loved looking back through the archives just now and seeing that it was expected that Matthew would do this "soon <https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/4D_Cubing/conversations/messages/1864>" after Nan did the first blind solve in 2011. I think it’s great when people have goals that they keep coming back to. Good luck on your first blind 3^4. I hope we see it before 2023!

I didn’t practise much beforehand, so I was surprised to get a success on the second attempt. It’s not a great time, but I just wanted to go safe and get a success. The time was 23:16 [10:12], I worked that out from the video since I actually forgot to stop the timer until after I stopped recording. The solve had 16 targets, and I had to fix the buffer at the end since of course it’s possible to twist one corner in isolation in 4D. I’ve uploaded the log file to my folder here for anyone interested in looking through the solve.

It seems like a fun project to really get to grips with the language, though I’ll do a couple of smaller things with it first rather than jumping right into the deep end.
