There is only 2 factors mismatch. These are : - 16! and 16!/2. This is about 4 color permutation. Clearly Smith is correct. (or I mis group the factors)
- 6^31 and 6^32/2. This is about 3 color ("1 group of 32") orientation. If it is possible to twist single center edge (third three color series, but cannot be. directly applied here) then 12^16/2 is correct, and vice versa.
- 12^15*4=12^16/3. Match.
Although Smith said his value is an upper bound, it is only because of parity problem. Therefore Smith’s formula is an integer multiple of the real permutation.
