Yeah,
I think that the odd cases {4,4|3}, {4,4|5} and {4,4|7} all show this strange property. I started with the case 7 by chance. I certainly will do the simpler ones too. Perhaps the odds of encountering the problem is even higher in the simpler cases.

Congratulations, Eduard!! I think that we can all understand your pain when you got stuck and also your joy when you finally completed your solution.

So do the related skew puzzles have the same strange property including the 9-color {4,4|3} ? And if so, are the odds of encountering the problem related to the number of colors involved?

It was very nice of you to call out Nan’s help in your recording of your solution.
